Hi there! This is my sketches page. I decided to dabble a bit in drawing, so I'm posting up some things that I'm doing just on my own. Just a little background: I have only drawn one thing in my whole life so far that I consider worthy of posting on my main site - that was the sketch of Dorsola that I did back in 1992. Beyond that, I've absolutely hated my own drawings.
But at Conifur 2003, suddenly a switch got flipped or something, and I was driven to draw something. I don't really know what happened, but I discovered I could do stuff I never thought possible (for me). So I'm gonna give it another go, and see if I really do have some talent in this area, and what I might be able to do with it. Enjoy!
New 02/13/05! I drew a romantic sketch for my mate for Valentine's Day. Check it out. :)
- Copies of Con Badges (09/28/03) - For some strange reason, at the end of Conifur 2003, I was inspired to just try to copy my con badge from Michele Light. After doing that, I took on Max Blackrabbit's badge as well. This is the result. Done entirely in ball-point pen.
- Torso and Eye (09/29/03) - The next day, I went out and got myself a sketchpad and some pencils and tried the same trick on a piece I picked up by Polecat. The original was a skunkgirl.
- My Feet (09/29/03) - This was what it looked like to be looking down at my lap while I was sitting in my bed drawing.
- Sage Merrill (09/30/03) - One of my coworkers at work. We both had some downtime, so he read a magazine and I drew.
- XBOX Kiosk (10/06/03) - On more downtime, I drew our XBOX Kiosk at work. This was a few days before my contract expired within that group.
- DDR Extreme (10/08/03) - Took my pad to Illusionz and drew a DDR machine. :)
- Albino Ferret (10/16/03) - This is a sketch copy of a photo of an albino ferret, in the book "Ferrets In Your Home" by Dr. Wendy Winsted. Great introductory book for people who are interested in keeping ferrets as pets.
- Firebringer (1) (02/29/04) - My first truly furry sketch! This is Firebringer, a shapeshifting unicorn. Firebringer provided a few of her own pics and a con badge as references, and this was the result. :) The horn is wrong in this pic, but I'm rather pleased with how this came out.
- Firebringer (2) (02/29/04) - The second sketch of Firebringer. This one has a corrected horn and a different viewing angle. This image was processed in Photoshop to correct an aspect-ratio problem - the entire drawing was too tall, like it had been stretched vertically.
- Bunny Girl (03/06/04) - This marks my first furry sketch that was not only completely, totally from my head (no references), but also my first successful ink! Thanks to Doc McDowell for lending me a very high-quality brush pen to learn with! I'm very happy with this sketch - might even create a character out of this one.
- Cat In Box (03/06/04) - Warning: Excessive cuteness. Toothpaste provided.
- Cat At Drawing Table (03/06/04) - Another sketch that was done totally from scratch. Not nearly as happy with this one as the bunny girl, but it's passable. :) Another ink experiment, too - I need to learn how to draw smooth, steady lines rather than sketch-type lines.
- Firebringer (3) (03/13/04) - Another sketch of Firebringer. This time, I experimented a bit more with hair, specific body position (she's looking back at you while you look over her shoulder), and I left the picture mostly unshaded so that eventually I can ink it or color it in Photoshop. Should prove to be an interesting challenge. I'm quite happy with how this one came out. (Inked Version)
- Generic Furry (1) (03/13/04) - This was originally starting out to be a sketch of my own KieferSkunk character, but it ended up being more of a generic furry. Also was a second experiment with hair, and also with fur texturing. I think it came out decent. :)
- Firebringer (3) - COLORED! (03/14/04) - Firebringer at her drawing table. Taken from the ink version, I fully colored this image in Photoshop! My second such attempt, and the first that I can show on my site. Hope you like! :) (Large version)
- Tux Ferret (01/09/05) - A random doodle that Fire had me do as a challenge. Ain't he cute?
- Fire Rearing (03/22/04) - Not sure why this one never got put on this page, but I colored one of Fire's drawings of herself using Photoshop. The line art is hers, the coloring is mine. :)
- Watching the Sunset (02/13/05) - I drew this for Fire for Valentine's Day. It was a day early, but it seemed appropriate at the time, and the urge to draw was really flowing. I'm happy with how it came out.
